The Open data Institute have made their Open Data in day course available online.
It offers a great introduction to Open Data and the issues surrounding its definition and use including a section tackling the confusion between Open, Big and Personal Data. There are some good examples of data with some well chosen resources and links to use. It escalates pretty quickly at the end with a dive into Open Refine. At first glance, this feels like a leap and I do think if you’re going to take the course and try and run it with a group, there’d need to be some confident users in the room. But in the context of the whole day the jump into the practical data exploration is worth doing.
The content for the whole course is available for download under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License and you can pull it out as JSON. It also says it’s available as a SCORM package but the link wasn’t working when I checked.
Overall: The underlying message is resolutely ODI but it’s a great resource.
